Everyone in NC needs their “Yum-Yum” or “Shrimp Sauce” with their Japanese food. It’s just the way to do things. When I moved to Utah, I asked for “Shrimp Sauce” and NO ONE knew what I was talking about. It was pretty terrible. I found something at Wal-Mart that was close to Shrimp Sauce called “Yum-Yum” sauce, and apparently that’s what everyone else calls it in other states besides NC. It was alright, just not as delicious as what I was used to. I wish I had found this recipe then because my Japanese food seemed pretty naked without it. We all love that creamy white sauce but it’s loaded with bad ingredients like mayo and sugar. I am seriously over the moon about this recipe. It tastes JUST LIKE “Yum-Yum” sauce, and is so much healthier. Feel free to soak your fried rice in it with zero guilt! One of my favorite on-the-go Chicken Fried Rice is the frozen bag from Trader Joe’s. All you have to do is throw in in the pan with a little bit of coconut oil and it’s done in only a few minutes! This with the “Yum-Yum” sauce was a match made in heaven and super great for a quick and delicious meal.


Serving Size: 2 cups


  • 2 cups Vegenaise
  • 1/2 cup organic ketchup
  • 1 1/2 T. Truvia baking blend
  • 1 T. garlic powder
  • 1 T. paprika
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp. sriracha
  • Stevia to taste


  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. If mixture is not sweet enough for you with just the Truvia, add a super small amount of Stevia until you reach your sweetness preference. Drizzle over your Chicken Fried Rice and enjoy!
