Something that I’ve noticed in the past few weeks is that my body really loves REAL FOOD. Interesting isn’t it? The less processed that foods are and the cleaner the ingredients we take in, the better we will feel! I’ve always tried to take my veggies in through protein shakes, smoothies….basically anything that wasn’t the actual vegetable. But something I realized is that our body needs those REAL veggies; that’s what it was made to consume. 

Now like I said, I’m new to this whole “veggies on a regular basis” thing, but it’s becoming more and more like a habit. Of course, I have to spice up my vegetables a little with good sauces, dressings, or marinades that enhance the flavor. It has been pretty hard for me to find products that have clean ingredients and I can feel good about putting into my body. The amount of sugar and canola oil in regular dressings is kind of ridiculous. And have you ever noticed how the ingredients list on most things are like a mile long? That’s because most brands have to put that many fake ingredients into their products to make them taste good.

You guys know that I struggled for a long time thinking that if something said “fat free” or “sugar free” that it was automatically healthy. This is so wrong, and the faster that people realize this, the better off everyone will be. The concept is pretty simple guys. Ingredients that are SIMPLE, REAL, and ORGANIC are better for our bodies. I always look for this on any product that I buy. And lately I’ve been buying more from the produce section than ever, which is great to really cut down on the amount of processed foods I eat. 

So what do you use when you want to enhance those delicious veggies and yummy meats? My new favorite brand for this is Primal Kitchen you guys. They are FANTASTIC! They are the cleanest brand of dressings, marinades, and mayos that I have found, and that taste incredible. Their secret ingredient (which isn’t really a secret)  is Avocado Oil which makes their products really unique. Let me just give you a list of some of the awesome things about them:

  • Sugar Free
  • Soy/Canola Oil Free
  • Gluten Free
  • Dairy Free
  • Paleo  

These are just some of the highlights, but another thing that I love is that the list of ingredients for each product is incredibly short. Not only that, but these ingredients are wholesome and healthy. None of that hidden fake/processed stuff that make up most of our favorite products. Plus, did I mention they are delicious?! 

The dressings, marinades, and mayo are all great for veggies, meats, to use as dips…there are so many options. I have been using them in my Buddha or Power Bowls a lot which is basically just a lot of veggies, meats, proteins..usually some quinoa…pretty much anything I have in the fridge really. Here are a few of my favorite recipes that I have used Primal Kitchen products for. These recipes are great to meal prep and have for several days. Hope you enjoy! 

Cobb Salad Bowl

What you need:

  • Organic Romaine Lettuce
  • Organic Grilled Chicken
  • Avocado
  • Organic Corn
  • Uncured Turkey Bacon
  • Boiled Egg (Organic/Cage Free)
  • Primal Kitchen Honey Mustard

-Add all of your ingredients together and finish off with your Primal Kitchen Honey Mustard.

 

Breakfast Bowl 

What you need:

  • Organic Spinach
  • Purple Potatoes
  • Uncured Bacon
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Onions/Peppers (Sauteed)
  • Tri-Color Quinoa 
  • Avocado/Mayo Dressing (1 avocado, Primal Kitchen Mayo, organic honey, garlic powder, Celtic salt, organic coconut milk)

-Mix all the ingredients for your Avocado/Mayo Dressing together, set aside. Add all other ingredients together for your bowl and top with the Avo/Mayo dressing. 

 

Honey Chipotle Chicken Bowl 

What you need: 

  • Organic Spinach 
  • Roasted organic potatoes (with spices of your choice, I used paprika, garlic powder, Celtic salt, and dill weed)
  •  Organic Grilled Chicken
  • Maple Paprika Roasted Chickpeas (organic chickpeas, maple syrup, and paprika)
  • White Quinoa
  • Sundried Tomatoes
  • Green Onions
  • Avocado
  • Honey Chipotle Dressing (Primal Kitchen Chipotle Lime Mayo, organic honey, organic coconut milk, and a little Stevia)

-Mix the ingredients for your dressing together and set aside. Combine your bowl ingredients and then top with you Honey Chipotle Dressing.
